The Path and the Dust

April 23, 2016

The Mojave Desert in Winter (3117873177)

I never left you
the horizon remains
the same as I last saw it
a ring in the distance
around me.
and you are still there
lingering
a shimmer

Salt dust in the waves
of beautiful bronze skies
rises and swells
recedes like the tide
it blurs the cracked earth
and trackless paths
gently, silently
and you shimmer

There are no winter
hounds here
there is no winter here.
The winds blow
and the cold, it comes
but the sands remain
untouched, hot, blazing
waiting for the sun.
