And how they wished for the one thing

That would bring strength to their lives

For ages they would sing of this search

Lifting cries to some unseen giver

For ages they searched and found nothing

Yet it was always there

They had always held their prize

Every moment they would run and sing

Taking joy in the morning air and the life it breathed

They wished for more to fulfill their meager existence

When their existence itself had always been their wish.
