Stolen Lips

February 17, 2005

I looked into an image

on a night between the moons

and I saw my heart

a flame above their silhouettes

I saw a thing that troubled me so

my love was there and my eyes felt tears

a child’s gem sparkled face

promised more than could be said

my brother called blessings out to me

and I cried, for so much was gone

and, as I stared, my eyes falling raw

I was lost, and my heart fired its own forge of pain

“O’ God!” I roared from stolen lips

“fill me and this space.”
