Alleyna

January 30, 2005

A crimson ribbon

Blown from the western sky

Touched the great mountains

And rippled the waters

With a lonely sigh

It whispered to the maiden

With her back to the vast sand

As she lit a candle

And sang

She shed her lonely tears

Watching the waters

She swore she’d never leave

Without her daughters

And the wind grew restless

As the fire rose high

Her lips trembled

And the mountains rumbled

When they heard her cry.
