Here It Has Become

January 3, 2005

Here it has become
Left alone, silent,
Unhearing,
Not shielded,
Distant.

And the whispering
Far away,
Seems to tingle here,
Uncovered,
Untrue.

Here is but a link
To an anchor, left there,
Unnoticed
But real still
And fair.

And fair lingering
Scents, sensations gone
Unforgot,
Still within
My song

Far from here has been
Sleepless ages, silent,
Undreaming,
Patiently
Distant.

And nothing could more
Be closer, embraced.
Beloved
Soft bare touch,
Dream-faced.

Buried in dark hair,
Unable to breathe.

Perfectly in
This mindless reach,
This intense
This purest
This entrancing reach.

Come back to this sea,
O my own.  Come home.
