Where Desolate Sands Blow

January 1, 2005

Away, where desolate sands blow
Where trees of flame and ash grow
Where dust is all they know
Is where the children of the sun grow.

Away, where light is sole ruler
Where white heat is ever crueler
Where knife-winds are stones’ tooler
Is where the children of the sun are no fewer.

They run and they laugh
Make friends of the skies
They sleep under stars
In peace no others have

They grow ever stronger
In their ways of old
Living in games and jeweled colors
Where the day is ever longer.

Away, where sacred wealth is hidden
Where songs are softly given
Where sweet joy is forever bidden
Is where the children of the desert are hidden
