Sweet Remnants

January 1, 2005

A ghost in the remnants
Of the smoke from this altar
Rose three moons ago tonight

It brought me sweet remnants
Of the incense of our first altar
On a starless night just like tonight

But all I see is the ghost
Not the one it resembles most
So I lift my goblet and flourish my blade

To the one for whom my heart was made
I remember you as you were then
In the shimmering reflection of my ale.
